Job summary

Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Oceania (MSIG) is seeking a Technical Operations Manager who will partner with the Head of Underwriting to strengthen underwriting and reinsurance operations, improve processes and deliver strategic initiatives.

You will oversee workflows, drive continuous improvement, manage reporting calendars, and coordinate across Underwriting, Reinsurance, Distribution, Finance, Claims and IT to deliver timely outcomes.

Qualifications

• PM and organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Lean, Six Sigma or similar process improvement experience desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills with Excel/PowerPoint.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of underwriting and reinsurance operations preferred.
• Knowledge of APRA reporting obligations (GPS 230) is advantageous.
• Experience leading projects or business-improvement initiatives in insurance.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and deliver results without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Oversee underwriting and reinsurance workflows to ensure key activities are completed on time.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort.
• Coordinate governance and reporting across stakeholders.
• Prepare project plans, status updates and governance documentation.
• Support Head of Underwriting and manage priority initiatives.
• Liaise with brokers, reinsurers and IT to drive change.
• Monitor risks, issues and dependencies throughout projects.
• Provide quality assurance on operational matters.
