Job summary

Orica at Olympic Dam is hiring an MCU Operator (Underground Charge-up). You’ll receive full training to safely operate Mobile Charging Units and support underground blasting operations.

On an 8/6 roster with FIFO from Adelaide or DIDO within SA, you’ll gain valuable technical skills, work in a safety‑driven team and build a long‑term career in mining with a global leader. You will contribute to loading bulk explosives, ensuring compliance and teamwork across shifts.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid HR license.
• Able to obtain a national police clearance check.
• Strong commitment to Safety, Health and Environment.
• Basic mechanical understanding is advantageous.
• Experience with heavy plant/equipment is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and uphold safety as a core value.
• Duties including Magazine Management.
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on fixed and mobile plants.
• Mentor and train new team members.
• Collaborate closely with the Drill and Blast Team.

Join Orica at Olympic Dam and kick-start your mining career with a global leader in mining and blasting services. This role operates on an 8/6 roster, with FIFO from Adelaide or DIDO within South Australia.

As MCU Operator (Underground Charge-up), you'll receive full training to safely operate Mobile Charging Units (MCUs) and support underground blasting operations. Working in a hands-on environment, you'll play a key role in delivering and loading bulk explosives to production areas while maintaining the highest standards of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

What you will be doing

• First and foremost, demonstrating and setting the example of our key company value: 'Safety is our Priority, Always';
• Duties including Magazine Management;
• Conducting routine inspections and performing minor maintenance of fixed and mobile plants.
• Assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members;
• Working in tight unison with the Drill and Blast Team.
• At all times acting with integrity and respect.

What you will bring

• Heavy rigid (HR) vehicle license;
• Ability to obtain a national police clearance check;
• A commitment and attitude toward Safety, Health and Environment;
• Basic mechanical comprehension is highly advantageous;
• Exposure to operating heavy plant, equipment and machinery is advantageous but not essential.
