Job summary

Crossfield Energy Pty Ltd seeks an Electrician / Operator Maintainer to join the Highwall Mining team in Queensland. The role blends electrical maintenance, fault-finding and operation, inspection and servicing of highwall mining equipment and site plant.

You will hold a relevant electrical trade qualification with a Queensland licence and have five years' electrical experience in heavy industry open-cut mining. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and multi-skilled growth on site.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, repairs, installations, inspections and testing on highwall mining equipment, mobile plant, pumps, lighting plants and site electrical infrastructure, within the scope of your licence and site authorisations.
• Complete planned and preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules, manufacturer requirements and site standards.
• Respond to breakdowns, identify root causes where practicable, and work with operations and maintenance personnel to restore equipment safely and efficiently.
• Apply site isolation, lock-out/tag-out, testing for de-energisation, permit-to-work and other controls in accordance with the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS).
• Undertake high-voltage switching, access and trailing-cable handling only where trained, assessed as competent and formally authorised.
• Record maintenance activities, test results, defects and parts used in the site maintenance system; promptly report hazards, incidents and equipment defects.
• Operate, inspect and conduct operator-level servicing and minor maintenance of highwall mining equipment in accordance with site procedures and authorisations.
• Support highwall miner and loader operations, pushbeam set-up and handling, deck duties, work-area preparation, coal stockpiling and transfer, and loading of coal haulage units.
• Complete pre-start inspections and monitor equipment condition, escalating defects and abnormal operating conditions promptly.
• Coordinate work with operators, contractors and other maintenance personnel to support safe, efficient production.

This is a genuinely multi-skilled role combining electrical maintenance and fault-finding with the operation, inspection and servicing of highwall mining equipment and associated site plant. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Management and Highwall Mining Production Supervisor, you will help maintain equipment availability, respond to breakdowns and support safe, productive mining operations.

• Understanding of site safety and health management systems and safe electrical work practices.
• Strong fault-finding, maintenance and problem-solving capability.
• Willingness to develop and maintain multi-skilled operator competencies, where not already held.
• Previous highwall mining experience (desirable).
• Experience with heavy mobile plant, mining equipment and complex electrical systems (desirable).
