Join the Safety in Mines Testing and Research Station (Simtars) and play a key role in supporting innovative research, testing and technical solutions that help improve safety across Queensland’s mining and resources sector.
Based within the Mine Safety Technology Research Centre (MSTRC), the Workshop Supervisor provides hands‑on leadership to a skilled and diverse workshop team. You’ll combine your technical trade expertise with strong people leadership to deliver complex and often time‑critical projects from concept through to completion.
This is a varied role where no two projects are the same. You’ll work across equipment design, fabrication, modification, installation, testing, maintenance and research activities, collaborating with engineers, scientists and technical specialists to turn ideas and requirements into practical solutions.
The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to industrial response activities and emerging technologies, including 3D laser scanning, while supporting research and testing that has a direct impact on mine safety and health outcomes.

Experience in a research, testing, mining or heavy industrial environment will be highly regarded.
