Job summary

Ertech in Wangara is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Electrical business unit and drive growth, project delivery, safety, quality, compliance and financial outcomes.

You will build client relationships, pursue new opportunities, lead tender activities and manage operational teams to hit revenue and profit targets. This role offers a path to influence across the business within a proudly employee-owned company focused on collaboration and performance.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years in a senior leadership role within operations or project delivery.
  • 7+ years of on-site project experience, ideally in electrical/construction.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (Masters or Bachelor) is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient delivery within timelines and budgets.
  • Lead project teams including project managers, engineers, and field personnel with a focus on accountability and safety.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams to foster development and high performance.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, resource use, and cost-efficiency across projects.
  • Monitor project performance and report progress, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and internal policies including HSE and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and address issues promptly.
  • Contribute to tender preparation and business development, leveraging operational insights for successful bids.
  • Support workforce planning and mobilisation to meet project demands.
  • Drive innovation and process improvements to streamline workflows and adopt best practices.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our Electrical business unit in Wangara. In this leadership role, you will drive business growth and oversee the successful delivery of projects, ensuring strong performance across safety, quality, compliance, and financial outcomes.

You will be responsible for developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, leading business development and tender activities, and managing operational teams to achieve and exceed revenue and profit targets. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth and success of the business.

Other Key Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
  • Oversee daily operations across multiple construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project timelines and budgets.
  • Manage and lead project teams, including project managers, engineers, and field personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams, fostering professional development, team cohesion, and a high-performance culture.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, resource utilisation, and cost-efficiency across projects.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies, including HSE and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and address operational issues promptly.
  • Contribute to tender preparation and business development, leveraging operational insights to support successful bids and secure future project work.
  • Support workforce planning and mobilisation, ensuring the right resources are in place to meet project demands.
  • Drive innovation and process improvements, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and adopt best practices.
To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
  • 15+ years of experience in a senior leadership position within operations or project delivery
  • 7+ years of on-site project experience, ideally within the electrical/construction sectors
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, Masters/Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (essential)
  • Cert IV Leadership and Development (desirable)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a police clearance.
  • MUST hold full Australian working rights.
