Job summary

The Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC) is seeking an Operations Manager for the Glendenning site in Sydney. This role carries full P&L responsibility across production, logistics, scheduling and service delivery, driving profitability and performance in Australia’s largest manufacturing operation.

You will lead a high-performing team, set strategic targets, champion safety, and collaborate with Sales and Commercial teams to optimise revenue and margin while improving efficiency and cash flow.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing a full P&L or significant operational budget.
• Strong commercial acumen with focus on revenue, margin, cost and working capital.
• Proven ability to translate targets into actionable operational plans.
• Experience leading a high-performing team in fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Solid understanding of safety systems and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Take full P&L responsibility for the Glendenning operation, with accountability for revenue, gross margin, operating costs, working capital and overall branch financial performance.
• Lead the daily operational performance of the site across production, logistics, scheduling and service execution.
• Set and deliver production, volume, service, cost and financial targets, ensuring performance aligns with the branch budget and business strategy.
• Manage and mentor the operations team, creating a high-performing culture through clear accountability and leadership.
• Identify and implement process improvements, productivity initiatives and cost efficiencies to improve profitability.
• Lead maintenance planning and reliability improvements to increase machine availability, utilisation and output.
• Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to maximise customer service, revenue opportunities and profitable volume growth.
• Proactively manage inventory, working capital and material utilisation to reduce waste, improve cash flow and protect margin.
• Monitor and manage key P&L drivers including labour, freight, conversion costs, maintenance, scrap, productivity and overheads.
• Use operational and financial data to identify performance gaps, develop corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to site and area strategic decisions, budgets and business plans as part of the leadership team.
• Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring operational performance never compromises safety or compliance.

As the Operations Manager at Glendenning's ARC site, you will be ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Sydney's largest manufacturing operation while maintaining a strong focus on safety and meeting production targets.

What you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience managing afull P&L or significant operational budget, with a strong understanding of revenue, margin, cost and working capital drivers
• Proven ability totranslate financial targets into operational actions and measurable results
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managingcosts, productivity, labour, inventory and capital expenditure
• Ability to lead a high-performing operational team in afast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong exposure toproduction, maintenance, logistics and operational planning
• Excellent understanding ofcontinuous improvement, cost management and operational efficiency
• Steel, building products or industrial manufacturing experience is desirable
• Strong understanding ofsafety systems and risk management
