Job summary

Ventia is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Manager to lead delivery of maintenance services across East and Central regions of the VIMC contract. You will report to the Project Director and drive safety, productivity and customer outcomes while ensuring contractual obligations are met.

You will oversee planning, scheduling and resource allocation, manage field teams and subcontractors, and work with clients and government partners to deliver reliable and safe transport infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Experience leading operations and maintenance teams in transport, infrastructure, utilities or asset-intensive settings.
  • Ability to manage budgets, cost drivers and contract performance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement with government clients and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe and efficient delivery of routine maintenance, fault response and asset restoration.
  • Oversee performance across field teams, supervisors and subcontractors to meet KPIs.
  • Plan, schedule and allocate resources to deliver works on time and to scope.
  • Drive safety culture and compliance with SH&E requirements.
  • Identify scope changes and opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
  • Build relationships with clients, road authorities and internal stakeholders.

Ventia delivers complex transport infrastructure and technology solutions across Victoria's major road network. The VIMC contract involves the operation, maintenance and performance management of critical Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal assets, communications networks, electrical infrastructure and associated roadside technology across live traffic environments.

The maintenance workforce plays a critical role in keeping the road network safe, reliable and operational for the travelling public. Works are performed across metropolitan and regional Victoria and include planned maintenance, fault response, emergency works, inspections, repairs, testing and restoration of traffic signals and ITS assets.

About the role

The Operations & Maintenance Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of maintenance services across the East and Central regions of the VIMC contract. Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead day-to-day operational performance, workforce management and maintenance delivery across a complex live road network environment. Working closely with supervisors, planners, engineers, subcontractors and client stakeholders, you will drive safety, productivity, compliance and customer outcomes while ensuring contractual obligations are achieved.

Role responsibilities

  • Lead the safe and efficient delivery of routine maintenance, fault response, corrective maintenance, emergency works and asset restoration activities.
  • Manage operational performance across field teams, supervisors and subcontractors to achieve service, quality and contract KPI outcomes.
  • Oversee planning, scheduling and resource allocation to ensure works are prioritised, properly resourced and delivered on time.
  • Drive a strong safety culture through visible leadership, field engagement and compliance with SH&E requirements.
  • Monitor workload, productivity, resource availability and operational risks, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Support the management of commercial outcomes by identifying scope changes, variation opportunities and operational cost drivers.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, road authorities, utilities and internal stakeholders to support successful contract delivery.

About you

  • Significant experience leading operations and maintenance teams within transport, infrastructure, utilities, electrical or asset-intensive environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing large field-based workforces, supervisors, contractors and operational support teams.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance delivery, fault response, planning and scheduling within live operational environments.
  • Proven ability to drive safety, quality, productivity and customer outcomes across complex maintenance contracts.
  • Commercially minded with experience managing budgets, operational costs, contract performance and risk.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with experience working alongside government clients and external partners.
  • Relevant qualifications in Electrical, Engineering, Asset Management, Construction Management, Project Management, Operations Management or a related discipline are highly regarded
