Job summary

Queensland Rail is seeking an Operations Reporting & Insights Analyst to analyse operational performance data for passenger services (Citytrain) and ensure accurate, actionable reporting for senior leaders and external partners.

You will lead the shift from spreadsheets to interactive Power BI dashboards, enabling data-driven operational decisions. This permanent full-time role is based in Bowen Hills, Brisbane, with hybrid work options and exposure to modern reporting tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role.
• High level knowledge of Power BI and MS Excel.
• Experience with database systems and learning new systems quickly.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent prioritisation skills.
• Creativity in problem solving.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Degree or relevant qualifications desirable.
• Experience with data management, analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Examine the prior day of operations, classifying each incident according to the hierarchy.
• Verify train-day data completeness and correctness for reporting.
• Extract data from core systems into custom databases for reporting.
• Use data from multiple sources to generate Power BI and Excel reports.
• Design and implement custom reports for internal/external audiences.
• Liaise with stakeholders to ensure correct incident classification.
• Respond to ad-hoc information requests from media, ministerial offices, and senior management.
