Job summary

Lockheed Martin Australia is seeking an Operations Engineering Manager for the AIR6500 program, a joint air battle management system. The role focuses on manufacturability, quality, and production processes for a complex defence program, coordinating recruitment, performance and salary actions where applicable.

The successful candidate will lead production requirements, drive digital transformation and ERP implementation, and oversee tender responses and transition of designs to production,

Qualifications

  • Significant knowledge, ability and experience in the establishment of a Production Capability to Defence programs.
  • Significant experience in leading production effort on a tender.
  • Significant ability to develop ASDEFCON tender response documents.
  • Significant experience in effectively transitioning a product design into a product.
  • Advanced planning, stakeholder engagement and execution of an ERP rollout.
  • Desirable: ability to operate within the Defence environment and understanding of Technical Regulatory Frameworks and Standards (AS9100).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the shaping of Production requirements (space, throughput, workflow, tooling & testing) with capture leadership during capture phases prior to RFT.
  • Leads the development of a Production Management process suite to enable Production function to achieve functional, program and business performance objectives.
  • Provides advice and effort to support the Engineering and Technology (E&T) function in design of product through production.
  • Leads the execution of Production digital transformation initiatives and ERP system rollout.
  • Lead and conduct Production trade studies to ensure value for money solutions are obtained and present Make/Buy business cases to the Production Capability Manager.
  • Lead and mentor Production staff in their work and actively support their professional development.

The opportunity

AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

An Operations Engineering Management opportunity has arisen on AIR6500. The role manages activities involving the producibility and quality of the product, and the processes that directly pertain, encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: CIM, failure analysis, industrial, manufacturing, manufacturing equipment, process, product, quality assurance, reliability, supplier quality, test, and tool. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

What you'll bring

To be successful you will have the following demonstrated skills and experience:

Qualifications – Desirable
  • Degree in Engineering (manufacturing, Production) or other relevant qualifications/experience
Essential
  • Significant knowledge, ability and experience in the establishment of a Production Capability to Defence programs
  • Significant experience in leading production effort on a tender
  • Significant ability to develop ASDEFCON tender response documents.
  • Significant experience in effectively transitioning a product design into a product.
  • Advanced planning, stakeholder engagement and execution of an ERP rollout
