Job description

Organised, good with people and know how to keep a busy operation moving?

We're looking for an energetic and hands-on Operations Coordinator to join a busy construction equipment hire business in Canberra.

This is a key operational position working across a team of approximately 10-15 people, helping coordinate daily activities, workloads, equipment and customer requirements.

If you're a natural organiser, communicate well with people and enjoy solving problems in a fast-moving environment, this could be an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in operations.

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR | CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT HIRE | CANBERRA ACT

$75,000 - $90,000 + Super | Full-Time Permanent

About the Role

Working closely with management, you'll help coordinate the day-to-day operations of a busy equipment hire depot.

You'll work across the yard, workshop, administration and customer-facing teams, helping ensure priorities are communicated, equipment is ready when required and daily operations run efficiently.

This isn't a role where you'll spend the entire day behind a desk. You'll be involved with the team, customers and equipment while keeping the operation organised.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily operational activities and workloads
  • Work closely with a team of approximately 10-15 employees
  • Allocate daily tasks and communicate operational priorities
  • Coordinate activities between the yard, workshop and administration teams
  • Assist with equipment scheduling, availability and allocation
  • Monitor workflow and help resolve operational issues
  • Coordinate customer collections, returns and equipment requirements
  • Ensure customer requests are handled efficiently and professionally
  • Assist with daily planning and resource coordination
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation
  • Support management with process improvements and operational efficiency
  • Promote high standards of safety and workplace organisation
  • Build positive relationships across the team and with customers
  • Help create an efficient, accountable and positive working environment
Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience in operations, coordination, logistics or a similar environment
  • Experience working with and coordinating teams
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Confidence communicating tasks and priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to remain organised when priorities change
  • Good customer service skills
  • Basic computer and administrative capability
  • Current Driver's Licence
Highly Regarded
  • Equipment hire industry experience
  • Construction, civil or trade industry exposure
  • Plant or machinery knowledge
  • Logistics, transport or warehousing experience
  • Workshop or yard coordination experience

Equipment hire experience isn't essential. Candidates from construction, logistics, transport, warehousing, workshops or other fast-paced operational environments are encouraged to apply.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with energy, initiative and a good head on their shoulders.

You're comfortable communicating with different personalities, setting priorities and making sure everyone knows what needs to happen throughout the day.

You don't need to be a traditional "manager" or "supervisor". What matters is that you can organise people, communicate clearly, solve problems and keep operations moving.

We're particularly interested in someone looking for stability and the opportunity to establish a long-term career within the business.

What's on Offer?
  • $75,000 - $90,000 + super, depending on experience
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Work across a team of approximately 10-15 people
  • Hands-on and varied operations role
  • Stable and consistent employment
  • Supportive management team
  • Great workplace culture
  • Opportunity to develop your operational and leadership skills
  • Long-term career opportunities
  • Join an established Canberra business with a strong industry presence
