Job summary

Cuscal Limited is seeking an Operational Risk Advisor to join the Group Risk & Compliance team in Sydney. You will support the business in identifying, assessing and managing operational risk and act as a trusted adviser across the organisation.

In this role you will perform Line 2 assurance reviews, collaborate with business units to strengthen controls, and contribute to non-financial risk reporting for management committees and the Board.

Qualifications

• Experience with non-financial risk and compliance frameworks within financial services.
• Strong understanding of operational and non-financial risk in banking/finance.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking with ability to translate risk data into insights.
• Experience embedding operational risk management frameworks in business processes.
• Strong stakeholder management with ability to influence across levels.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent Line 2 assurance reviews of operational incidents and issues.
• Partner with business units to assess and manage operational risks and strengthen controls.
• Analyse operational risk data to identify trends and provide insights.
• Support management and resolution of incidents, issues and control gaps.
• Develop practical action plans after assurance reviews with the business.
• Support root cause analysis and trend identification across incidents.
• Report monthly Key Risk Indicators for non-financial risk.
• Review and maintain Board-approved non-financial risk policies.
• Liaise with auditors to support closure of audit findings.
• Contribute to risk education, training and broader risk uplift initiatives across Cuscal.

Job Description

As our Operational Risk Advisor, you’ll join our Group Risk & Compliance team and support the business in effectively identifying, assessing and managing operational risk.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor across Cuscal, providing practical risk guidance and independent Line 2 assurance while helping embed strong risk frameworks and processes across the organisation. You’ll also contribute to non-financial risk reporting for management committees and the Board.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

• Experience working with non-financial risk and compliance frameworks within financial services.
• A solid understanding of operational and non-financial risk within the banking or finance industry.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to turn risk information into practical insights.
• Experience embedding operational risk management frameworks into business processes.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to build relationships and influence across different levels of an organisation.
• The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes with strong attention to detail.

You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have:

• Experience providing operational risk advice within banking, payments or broader financial services.
• Exposure to Line 2 assurance, operational incidents, issues and control assessments.
• A tertiary qualification in commerce, finance or another business-related discipline.
