Job summary

CouriersPlease is seeking an Operational Analyst to transform complex data into actionable insights that drive continuous improvement. You will develop and maintain dashboards, monitor KPIs, and work with the National Operations team to identify opportunities based on data analysis.

The role emphasizes collaboration with operational leaders, data governance, and the automation of reporting and data processes to scale performance across Australia.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in an Analyst/Operational Analyst or similar data-focused role.
• Demonstrated experience analysing operational and commercial data and developing reports, dashboards and performance insights.

Responsibilities

• Analyse operational and commercial data to identify trends, performance gaps, hotspots and opportunities for improvement.
• Translate complex data into clear, meaningful and actionable insights for operational leaders and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the National Operations team and operational leaders to identify, quantify and present areas of opportunity based on data analysis.
• Develop, implement and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations that provide clear visibility of key operational and commercial metrics and KPIs.
• Maintain key operational master data, including location master data and other operational reference data, ensuring accuracy and governance.
• Champion data quality and integrity through validation, controls and reconciliation processes.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, reporting processes, data definitions and user documentation.
• Identify opportunities to automate data extraction, transformation, reporting and processes to improve efficiency.
• Support peak planning and forecasting through data analysis and scenario analysis.

The Role

The Operational Analyst plays a key role in supporting operational and commercial performance by transforming complex business and operational data into meaningful insights that drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.

The role is responsible for developing and maintaining business intelligence dashboards and reporting, monitoring key operational and commercial performance indicators, and undertaking detailed trend and hotspot analysis to support the prioritisation of improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse operational and commercial data to identify trends, performance gaps, hotspots and opportunities for improvement.
• Translate complex data into clear, meaningful and actionable insights for operational leaders and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the National Operations team and operational leaders to identify, quantify and present areas of opportunity based on data analysis.
• Develop, implement and maintain dashboards, reports and visualisations that provide clear visibility of key operational and commercial metrics and KPIs.
• Maintain key operational master data, including location master data, sortation data and other operational reference data, ensuring accuracy, consistency and appropriate governance.
• Champion data quality and integrity through effective validation, controls and reconciliation processes.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, reporting processes, data definitions and user documentation to support consistent and reliable reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve data capture, systems integration, reporting processes and overall data capability.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring data extraction, transformation, reporting and operational processes to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability.
• Support peak planning and other operational projects through data analysis, forecasting, scenario analysis and performance tracking.
• Support accurate operational forecasting through comprehensive volume, productivity, capacity and cost analysis.

About You

• 2+ years' experience in an Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Operational Analyst or similar data-focused role, preferably within an operationally complex environment.
• Demonstrated experience analysing operational and commercial data and developing reports, dashboards and performance insights to support business decision-making.
• Experience working with operational leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, quantify and prioritise improvement opportunities.
• Experience within logistics, transport, supply chain or another operationally complex environment is highly regarded.
• Strong working knowledge of business intelligence and data visualisation tools, including Power BI and Power Pivot.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational data structures, including the ability to extract, interrogate and analyse data using SQL Server Management Studio or similar tools.
• Experience with data preparation, workflow automation or ETL tools is advantageous
• Demonstrate a proactive, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to investigate issues beyond routine reporting requirements.
• Communicate complex analysis and insights clearly to stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.
• Build effective relationships with operational leaders, IT, commercial teams and other cross-functional stakeholders.
