Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking an Operations Assistant to join the Operating Theatre Team at John Hunter Hospital. This non-clinical role provides essential support to theatre staff and helps ensure the safe, efficient delivery of patient care in a busy hospital environment.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, be reliable, and willing to learn endoscope maintenance. Flexible on a 7-day rotating roster and on-call periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Operations Assistant, or willingness to learn the role.
• Training in maintenance/cleaning of endoscopes, or willingness to undertake this training.
• Ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated time management and prioritisation abilities.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control guidelines and policies.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to work a 7-day rotating roster and to be available on short notice.
• Willingness to participate in on-call periods.

• Provide non-clinical and ancillary support to theatre staff.
• Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality patient care while supporting the theatre campus.
• Support theatre operations and adapt to changing priorities in a busy hospital environment.
