Job summary

Focus Minerals is seeking a Mining Engineer: Open Pit to join on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. The role covers dewatering, geotechnical analysis, environment and project management, with end-to-end drill and blast design ownership.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant Mining Engineering degree, 3+ years of open pit mining experience, and strong proficiency in blast design software and tools such as Orica ShotPlus, Maptek Vulcan and Micromine Alastri.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in open pit mining.
• Experience in end-to-end drill and blast design and execution oversight.
• Proficiency with blast design software and associated systems.
• Experience with open pit gold mining is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct short-term mine planning with exposure to mid/long-term planning.
• Provide design recommendations and implement mine designs.
• Analyse methods and equipment to improve performance.
• Develop and improve open-pit mining systems and processes.
• Own drill and blast function design, sequencing, and execution.
• Oversee blast execution and post-blast reviews; drive design improvements.
• Manage blast performance data, identify trends, and apply design changes.
• Collaborate with geology, survey, production, and maintenance teams for integrated plans.
