Job summary

Animal Referral Hospital Brisbane is seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Nurse to join our specialist oncology team on a maternity leave contract. This full-time role focuses on hands-on nursing, oncology care, and high standards of patient wellbeing.

You will work with our experienced specialists and clinicians, enjoying excellent communication, time management, and a collaborative team environment, with opportunities for on-the-job training and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years nursing experience in a busy general practice or referral/emergency setting.
• Strong knowledge of anaesthetic monitoring, oncology nursing and patient care.
• Experience in an emergency and/or specialist hospital is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality patient care in a specialist oncology setting.
• Collaborate within a fast-paced oncology team guided by clinicians.

The successful Candidate will possess:





• Certificate IV in veterinary nursing and/or BAppSc (Veterinary Technology) degree or equivalent


• Minimum 4 years nursing experience in a busy general practice or experience in referral (specialist hospital) or emergency nursing


• A strong work ethic, the ability to work efficiently and multi-task, and to work independently and as part of a team


• The desire and ability to deliver consistently high quality of patient care even in busy conditions


• Diploma of Veterinary Nursing or equivalent further training


• Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthetic monitoring, oncology nursing and patient care


• Experience in an emergency and/or specialist hospital


• Knowledge of RX works, Smartflow and Idexx blood machines


• Work in a supportive, friendlyoncologyteam guided by our oncologyspecialists and clinicians with on-the-job training and support from senior nurses
