Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is seeking an Oncology Information Systems (OIS) Manager at Prince of Wales Hospital. The role leads information systems for cancer services, directing the Informatics and Data Team to deliver cost-effective, quality information solutions within a busy clinical environment.

The role focuses on strategic development, quality processes, and risk management, with opportunities for professional growth and a strong emphasis on innovation and change

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Pharmacy or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience with oncology patient information systems, preferably MOSAIQ or similar.
  • High level IT skills and competency in health information systems within clinical settings.
  • Experience leading teams and coaching managers in a performance‑based environment.
  • Strong analytical and organisational abilities with prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement for strategic business outcomes.
  • Ability to plan, manage change and lead complex projects.

The Role

The Prince of Wales Hospitals (POWH) Cancer Services provides multidisciplinary, coordinated, evidence-informed and research-driven care to patients with cancer and blood disorders in a world-class facility. The position works closely with the POWH Cancer Services Executive through the Cancer Services Operations Manager to provide oversight and strategic development of all Cancer Services information needs. This includes the development and monitoring of quality processes, and the alignment of information systems and services to the priorities of the Cancer Services. The position also leads, manages and contributes to the operations of the Informatics and Data Team to facilitate delivery of quality, cost-effective services, and achievement of business and service objectives. A focus on innovation, emerging technologies and change implementation whilst managing risk is also key in this position.

Where You'll be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Pharmacy or another relevant discipline or experience to enable a through technical and/or data management knowledge and skills.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience in an oncology patient information system(s), preferably MOSAIQ as well as other health information systems.
  • Demonstrated high level IT and computer skills and competency in system management and ability to manage complex health information and technology systems within a clinical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and nurturing a team; coaching and advising clinical and administrative managers and staff, whilst always fostering a performance based and customer focused work culture.
  • Proven well-developed analytical and organisational skills including the ability to analyse, interpret and present reports and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise and multi-task, as required.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with extensive experience engaging and informing key stakeholders to achieve optimal business outcomes underpinned by a customer focused approach.
  • Proven capacity to contribute to, and promote, strategic initiatives, including the capability to plan, manage change, improve performance and project manage complex projects.
