Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Information Systems Coordinator to lead clinical information systems initiatives across POWH cancer services. The role focuses on developing and implementing policies to improve workflows and patient care in cancer pathways, with strong collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with ≥5 years post-registration experience in cancer care OR Clinical Pharmacist with ≥3 years hospital pharmacy experience in cancer.
  • Current APHRA registration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with senior clinicians, executives and service managers.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong initiative and change-readiness with problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating education and training.
  • Proficient computer literacy with information management/technology relevant to cancer care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of policies to improve cancer service workflows.

The Role

The Clinical Information Systems Coordinator will act as a clinical lead in developing and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate improved workflows across all cancer services at POWH.

The position holder will establish collaborative relationships with individuals and groups internal and external to POWH Cancer Services. The timely and effective communication of information and knowledge to engage key stakeholders is a critical component of this role.

The position is part of the POWH Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre (NCCC), which integrates all cancer disciplines (Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Haematology, Hereditary Cancer, Precision Oncology, Skin & Melanoma, Cancer Survivorship, Palliative Care, and Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) Cancer Services).

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
  • A Registered Nurse with a minimum 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years full-time equivalent experience in the specialty field and post-graduate nursing qualifications relevant to the field of practice (Cancer) [Note: applicants seeking employment under the Public Health System Nurses’ & Midwives’ (State) Award should refer to the Competency Framework attachment] OR - A Clinical Pharmacist with a minimum of 3 years hospital pharmacy experience post-registration, with experience in a specialty field relevant to Cancer.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Agency (APHRA)
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with senior clinicians, executives and service managers
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in project management
  • Ability to build organisational change-readiness through the possession of sound problem-solving skills and a high degree of initiative
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and facilitating education and training.
  • Able to demonstrate computer literacy and a willingness to develop skills in information management and technology that are relevant to the cancer care setting.
