Job description

easykind is the forefront of healthcare, providing compassionate and innovative solutions for our patients through our specialisation in medicinal cannabis. We're a passionate, goal-driven business with the mission of combining 5-star service with the most cost-effective solution to high quality plant based medicine in Australia. We aren’t the everyday medical clinic, instead utilising our unique mix of accessibility, relatability, and reliability to simplify the process for our patients!

Position Overview

The Onboarding Nurse Associate is responsible for delivering safe, accurate, and patient-centred clinical screening and communication across established nursing workflows. Working within structured clinical pathways and under the guidance of Senior Nurses, the Deputy Nursing Operations Lead (2IC), and the Nursing Operations Lead, the role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care through consistent screening, accurate documentation, and effective patient communication.

The Onboarding Nurse Associate actively participates in frontline patient screening functions, routine clinical case management, and nursing operational workflows while developing clinical reasoning, confidence, and professional autonomy within a supported team environment.

Role Scope

The primary focus of the Onboarding Nurse Associate is the delivery of safe and consistent patient care through established clinical screening pathways, patient communication, and accurate documentation. The role is responsible for managing routine clinical workflows, recognising the limits of scope of practice, and escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.

As experience and capability develop, Onboarding Nurse Associate will be supported to strengthen clinical reasoning, expand professional autonomy, and participate in quality improvement, mentoring, and professional development opportunities where appropriate.

The responsibilities and duties outlined in this position description reflect current operational requirements and may evolve over time in response to changes in clinical models, technology, regulatory requirements, patient needs, and organisational priorities. The Onboarding Nurse Associate may be required to undertake additional duties, responsibilities, or workflow activities that are consistent with the purpose, classification, skills, and scope of the role.

Key Responsibilities
Protocol-Driven Clinical Screening & Patient Engagement
  • Structured Screening: Conduct structured nurse-led screening appointments and other clinical screening activities in accordance with established clinical pathways, organisational protocols, and approved support tools.
  • Clinical Communication: Complete clinically related patient interactions, including My Health Record (MHR) screening, pharmacy liaison calls, discharge explanations, and other patient-facing communications as required.
  • Patient Engagement: Facilitate patient engagement activities, including the timely response to new patient enquiries and the completion of routine clinical check-ins, in accordance with established patient support protocols and communication pathways.
  • Patient Communication: Communicate clearly, professionally, and compassionately with patients, providing education, explaining clinical decisions, and outlining next steps in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete clinical documentation using approved templates, digital systems, and organisational workflows.
Operational Support & Team Collaboration
  • Operational Support: Support patient coordination activities, operational workflows, and administrative processes that enable safe, efficient, and patient-centred delivery of clinical services. This includes patient re-engagement activities and calendar management.
  • Routine Workflow Management: Manage routine nursing queue tasks and standard communication channels, seeking guidance and support from senior staff where required.
  • Responsive Communication: Maintain effective communication within the nursing team by responding promptly to assigned tasks, collaborative requests, and workflow updates.
  • Team Collaboration: Contribute positively to team discussions, case reflections, and shared learning opportunities while maintaining accountability for individual daily responsibilities.
  • Patient Safety & Compliance: Maintain a strong commitment to patient safety by adhering to established clinical pathways, organisational policies, and internal governance requirements.
  • Appropriate Escalation: Promptly elevate complex, uncertain, high-risk, or out-of-scope clinical matters to Senior Nurses or nursing leadership.
  • Scope of Practice: Recognise personal limitations, seek guidance when required, and escalating complex patient enquiries or non-routine case requests appropriately.
  • Clinical Documentation: Collect, document, and maintain accurate patient information while continuously improving documentation quality, clinical reasoning, and workflow confidence.
Continuous Learning & Professional Development
  • Process Development: Develop a thorough understanding of nursing workflows, clinical pathways, operational systems, and organisational processes.
  • Receptiveness to Feedback: Actively participate in audit feedback, coaching, and mentoring opportunities to strengthen clinical confidence and professional practice.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing learning, quality improvement activities, and team development opportunities to support continued professional growth.
  • Adaptability & Systems Capability: Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to learn and utilise evolving clinical systems, digital platforms, technologies, and workflow processes introduced by the organisation.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties reasonably required by the organisation that align with the employee’s qualifications, professional scope of practice, capability, and the purpose of the position.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to consistently follow clinical pathways, checklists, and organisational processes.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain clinical information in a patient-centred manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional scope of practice and appropriate clinical escalation.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities within a structured workflow.
  • Positive attitude towards learning, receiving feedback, and continuously developing clinical knowledge and confidence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving clinical workflows, technology platforms, organisational priorities, and service delivery models
Qualifications & Experience
  • Current, unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the relevant national or state nursing board.
  • 1 - 2 years of clinical nursing experience desired, or equivalent experience suitable for transition into a structured telehealth or clinical screening environment.
