Job summary

Focus Minerals is currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join them on a 8 days on / 6 days off roster based on site. You will be responsible for providing technical engineering advice, planning and methodology to the mine.

Key responsibilities include developing short, medium and long-term mine plans, reviewing mining methods and equipment, preparing drilling and blasting plans, and supervising junior staff.

Qualifications

• First Class Quarry Manager’s Ticket is required.
• At least five years’ experience in open pit mining.
• Familiarity with Vulcan and Alastri software is highly regarded.
• Strong commitment to OH&S standards and safety leadership.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop short, medium and long-term mine plans for operations.
• Review mining methods and equipment for performance improvements.
• Prepare detailed drilling and blasting plans for resource extraction.
• Provide input into mine design, waste dump planning and infrastructure.
• Optimize pit design for resource recovery and efficiency.
• Monitor mining costs for budgeting and cost control.
• Manage mining and ore haulage contracts for productivity.
• Maintain and enforce mine safety standards across activities.
• Achieve targeted production levels through planning and execution.
• Implement grade control strategies to maintain ore quality.
• Prepare monthly reports, forecasts and end-of-month progress claims.
• Provide engineering support and mentor junior staff.
