Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Manager, Health, Safety, Environment & Training to lead on-site safety, environmental programs and training initiatives on the Caval Ridge Project in the Bowen Basin.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will drive safety strategy, oversee a team, manage budgets, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and incident prevention across all site activities.

This role demands senior leadership, 3–5 years in a similar HSET position, and experience with open pit operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in OHS and/or Cert IV WH&S.
• 3–5 years in a senior HSET role.
• Experience in open pit mine operations.
• Knowledge of QLD OHS legislation and mine regs.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety strategies and initiatives on the Caval Ridge Project.
• Drive a culture of continuous safety improvement.
• Oversee HSET team and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage project safety plans and budgets.
• Report on hazard identifications, risk management and incidents.
