Job summary

Cockram Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning process on a data center project in Youngstown, OH. You will serve as the quality, risk, and performance gatekeeper, ensuring zero-defect handover.

Responsibilities include planning, directing GC and vendors, and enforcing gate control across Level 4–5 testing with thorough QA/QC, IR thermography and environmental monitoring. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commissioning role within the construction industry.
• Experience in the data center industry highly desired.
• Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution, chilled water, and cooling tower equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the overall Commissioning Plan and ensure it aligns with the Owner’s Project Requirements.
• Direct and manage the General Contractor (GC), and equipment vendors to maintain schedule discipline and enforce contractual quality standards.
• Enforce strict "gate control"—ensuring a system fully passes one commissioning level (with zero critical issues) before permitting advancement to the next.
• Field Execution & Quality Assurance
• Directly witness high-risk milestones, including FATs for long-lead gear, switchgear energizations, generator tests, UPS discharge tests, and full-facility IST/Blackout testing.
• Maintain the Master Commissioning Issues Log and drive corrective actions prior to final sign-off.
