Job summary

Fire & Rescue NSW is seeking an On-Call Firefighter (RN2) at 391 Murwillumbah to support local emergency response and community safety initiatives. The role involves responding to incidents, drills, and educational activities at your local station.

Applicants should reside within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station and be available for day and night shifts on weekdays or weekends. Training is provided; a valid P1 NSW license and eligibility to work in Australia are required.

Qualifications

• Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires and other emergencies at the local Fire and Rescue NSW Fire Station
• Attend drills and training sessions and community safety activities
• Engage with the community on fire prevention and safety education
• Coordinate with NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police as part of the response team

• Base retainer of $89.75 p/fortnight + $38.00 p/hour for incident and drill attendance

About the role:

On-Call Firefighters work from their local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and are responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards, community education on fire prevention and safety for school children, senior citizens and local businesses, and collaboration with other emergency services such as NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police.

On-Call Firefighters are paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, community safety and education activities.

About you:

On-Call Firefighters play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment in their local communities. To be successful in the role you need to be team oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work. In order to respond promptly to emergency incidents, you must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station.

• Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station

Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers all aspects of firefighting and rescue including basic life support, rope work, power tool use and community engagement skills.

Minimum availability and attendance requirements:

At least33% of all calls over a six (6) month period and a minimum of 80% of all calls received by the brigade during the compulsory availability in any four week period, together with no less than 75% drill attendance.
