Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide a critical role at Barwon Prison, a maximum-security facility near Geelong. The role focuses on coordinating, supporting and monitoring Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) within Corrections, with emphasis on implementing actions related to a safer workplace.

You will educate Corrections staff on safety matters, including violence prevention, slips, trips and falls, manual handling and psychosocial hazards,

Qualifications

• Subject matter expert in OHS management systems with business partnering experience.
• Proven experience managing diverse stakeholders to deliver safety service.
• Knowledge of OHS legislation, codes of practice and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver operational initiatives with the Safety and Assurance Manager to promote consistent safety practices.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate day-to-day safety support across processes and services to maintain a safe workplace.
