Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria seeks a Safety Coordinator to support Corrections Victoria at Barwon Prison. You will coordinate, monitor and promote occupational health and safety, collaborating with staff to implement the safety management system and improve workplace safety outcomes.

The role requires OHS subject-matter expertise, strong stakeholder engagement and knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice and regulations.

Qualifications

• Subject matter expert in occupational health and safety management systems with demonstrated business partnering experience to meet operational demand.
• Proven experience managing a diverse stakeholder group to deliver consistent and quality safety service.
• Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience in the application of OHS legislation, codes of practice and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of operational initiatives by working collaboratively with the Safety and Assurance Manager and key partners to ensure a consistent departmental and Corrections approach to the management of health, safety and wellbeing.
• Continuously build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate day to day safety support and action directed at process, systems and services to support Corrections Victoria to deliver a safe and healthy workplace for staff and to meet its responsibilities under health and safety laws.
