Job summary

Direct Couriers is seeking an Offsider to support the driver across the Melbourne metro, ensuring scheduled and on-demand deliveries are executed with care. The role involves loading, unloading and maintaining strict chain of custody in high-security environments.

You will represent Direct Sensitive professionally, assist with navigation and client interactions, and uphold safety and accuracy in every stop.

Qualifications

• Freight handling or logistics experience preferred.
• Full Australian working rights and ability to pass Right to Work checks.
• Comfort with basic assembly tasks using hand/power tools.
• Commitment to safety and ability to follow directions.
• Detail-oriented with care for sensitive equipment.
• Willingness to pass National Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist driver with scheduled and on-demand deliveries across Melbourne.

The Role

Direct Sensitive is our premium, white-glove freight service, built for clients who can’t afford for anything to go wrong. The Offsider – Direct Sensitive works alongside the Sensitive Truck Driver to complete scheduled and on-demand deliveries across Melbourne, providing hands-on support with loading, unloading, and freight handling.

This is a hands-on support role within a high-security, high-standards environment. The Offsider ensures freight is loaded, secured, and unloaded correctly at every stop, and supports the driver in maintaining strict chain of custody and a professional client experience throughout each delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery Support:

• Assist the driver in completing scheduled and on-demand deliveries across the Melbourne metro area
• Support the driver with navigation, site access, and delivery sequencing throughout the day
• Assist in confirming delivery details and obtaining proof of delivery at each stop
• Help maintain the vehicle’s presentation and load area throughout the shift
• Load, secure, and unload freight in accordance with client requirements and Direct Couriers’ procedure
• Apply correct load restraint and strapping methods to secure freight for transit
• Handle high-value, fragile, and sensitive freight with care and precision at all times
• Maintain strict chain of custody when handling freight on and off the vehicle
• Identify and report any damaged, missing, or incorrectly labelled freight immediately

Client & Site Conduct:

• Represent the Direct Sensitive brand professionally in high-security and executive environments
• Operate with discretion at all times — client confidentiality is non-negotiable
• Support the driver in managing on-site client interactions professionally
• Promptly elevate any delivery exceptions, delays, or security concerns to the driver and/or management

What You'll Bring

• Previous experience in freight handling, logistics or a similar hands‑on environment is highly regarded.
• Full Australian working rights, with the ability to successfully complete a Right to Work check.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools for basic assembly tasks.
• A strong commitment to safety with the ability to follow directions carefully.
• Strong attention to detail and an understanding of the care required when handling sensitive equipment.
• A professional and customer focused approach when working at client sites.
• Ability to successfully complete a National Police Check as a condition of employment.

Physical & Manual Handling Requirements

• Safely life and carry items up to 20kg independently, with team lifting or mechanical aids used for heavier items.
• Regularly bend, twist, reach, kneel and squat when handling freight.
• Frequently climb in and out of vehicles and navigate stairs, ramps and loading docks.
• Undertake extended periods of standing and walking.
• Using load-restraint and manual handling equipment safely.
• Follow safe lifting and manual handling procedures.
• Wear required PPE, including safety footwear, high-visibility clothing and gloves where applicable.
