Job summary

Barminco is seeking a Purchasing Officer to join the Supply team at Hazelmere Head Office on an 8-month fixed-term contract. The role reports to the Purchasing Supervisor and focuses on procurement, expediting, and accurate PO processing to support operations across Australia and globally.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years in procurement or related roles, strong organisational and communication skills, and experience with Pronto ERP. A degree in procurement is desirable.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

• Procure goods and services per policies and schedules.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up deliveries and supplier queries.
• Ensure orders are receipted accurately for invoice matching.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Monitor supplier performance and identify cost saving opportunities.
• Assist users with procurement system enquiries and PO processes.
• Resolve PO discrepancies and supplier issues.
• Apply correct approvals and coding to purchases.
• Check warehouse stock before placing external orders.
• Communicate supplier issues to Contracts Team.

We're seeking an organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our Supply team at our Hazelmere Head Office on an 8-month fixedt term contract. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting operational success through the procurement and expediting of goods and services, ensuring parts and materials are delivered on time and purchase orders are completed accurately.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Procure goods and services in accordance with company policies, procedures and procurement schedules.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up outstanding deliveries, credits and supplier queries.
• Ensure orders are receipted accurately and are ready for invoice matching and processing.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Continuously review supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved service delivery.
• Assist users with procurement system enquiries, parts catalogues and purchase order processes.
• Support the resolution of purchase order discrepancies and supplier issues.
• Ensure appropriate approvals and coding allocations are applied to all purchases.
• Review warehouse stock availability before placing external orders.
• Communicate supplier performance issues, warranty matters and delivery concerns to the Contracts Team.
• Maintain compliance with Barminco's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Supply function.

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a procurement, purchasing, supply chain or administration role.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Sound understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Experience using Pronto ERP system for purchasing, inventory management and costing will be highly regarded.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business.
• A positive and customer-focused approach to stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Current Class C Driver's Licence.
• Certificate or Diploma in Procurement and Supply (desirable).
• Professional accreditation or membership with organisations such as CIPS or APICS (desirable).
