Job summary

Smaart Recruitment is seeking a Desktop Home Assessor for an Australian insurer. This office-based role leverages your building, estimating and trades experience to assess home claims from start to finish.

You will review documentation, prepare cost estimates, and liaise with customers and builders. The position is full-time, across North Lakes or Kawana Waters in Queensland, with training and clear career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in building, construction, trades or estimating and applying it to property claims.
• Experience reviewing and preparing accurate scopes of work.
• Willingness to learn and develop within the insurance industry via structured training.
• Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage phone-based and administrative tasks while coordinating with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review claim documentation, photographs, reports, and quotations to assess property damage.
• Determine repair scopes and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Negotiate repair costs and outcomes with builders and repair partners.
• Manage claims through to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Provide recommendations regarding repairs, cash settlements, and temporary accommodation.
• Liaise with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and manage expectations.
