Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking an Ocean Freight Import Transport Specialist at our Perth Station. You will manage and oversee ocean freight import execution, acting as the primary point of contact for customers and ensuring seamless service delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

Focus is on ocean freight imports with support for the Customer Operational & Customs Team. You will coordinate shipments, liaise with carriers, monitor regulatory requirements and seek opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding, ocean/air import operations.
• Knowledge of forwarding business and DHL OFR products.
• Full-time Australian work rights

Overall Job Purpose

We are seeking a proactive, customer focused professional to manage and oversee transport execution. Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, you will ensure seamless service delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.

The Ocean Freight Import Transport Specialist plays a key role in ensuring service commitments are met while driving operational efficiency through effective transport coordination. You will also ensure regulatory compliance and provide a high standard of customer service to support long-term customer satisfaction.

This position centres on ocean freight imports, while providing support for the Customer Operational & Customs Team as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordination of Sea Freight import deliveries and dehire.
• Manage cartage providers on a day-to-day basis to adhere to agreed KPIs.
• Consistently meet or exceed key service and quality KPIs.
• Coordination of Carrier payments and delivery order release.
• Act as key contact for customers on agreed delivery requirements and supporting on challenges.
• Monitoring and actioning Customs, AQIS, DAFF requirements.
• Source and quote transport solutions for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring service requirements, delivery expectations and cost objectives are achieved.
• Identify and pursue upselling opportunities, including participating in customer visits to support growth and retention.
• Resolve day-to-day transport operational challenges and continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  
  
  

Key Accountabilities:

• Proactively manage shipments to deliver a high-quality customer experience at every stage.
• Resolve operational issues independently wherever possible, escalating only when required.
• Previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight / Import operational roles
• Good knowledge of forwarding business, DHL products (OFR) and business systems (advantageous)
• CargoWise experience (advantageous)
• Ability to identify and meet customer needs in a pleasant and friendly manner.
