Job summary

St John of God Ballarat Hospital is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (Grade 1 or 2) to join a small, multidisciplinary Allied Health team in Ballarat. The role offers rotations across rehabilitation, orthopaedics, surgical, general medicine, oncology and ICU, with mentoring and supervision available.

This permanent full-time position runs Monday to Friday with 7.30am/8am to 3.30pm/4pm shifts, promoting work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Registered occupational therapist (AHPRA) with a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Ability to assess and treat across inpatient/outpatient settings.
• Strong communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary allied health team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality occupational therapy to inpatients and outpatients.
• Perform holistic assessments across functional, cognitive and physical domains.
• Develop and deliver tailored treatment programs to maximise independence.

The opportunity

• Deliver high-quality occupational therapy to both inpatients and outpatients, working with individuals and groups.
• Complete holistic assessments across functional, cognitive and physical domains, including personal care, domestic and community activities of daily living.
• Develop and deliver tailored treatment programs that support each patient’s individual goals and maximise their independence.
• Assess and coordinate appropriate equipment and aids to support patients in their return to everyday life.
• Work closely with medical, nursing and multidisciplinary Allied Health teams to deliver patient-centred care.
• Build your clinical capability through exposure to a diverse caseload and multiple areas of practice.

What you’ll bring

• You’ll have a sound understanding of occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is curious, collaborative and passionate about helping people regain independence and achieve meaningful outcomes.
• Successful applicants will have a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current valid driver’s licence.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary Grade 1-2: $70,866 to $114,129 plus 12% Superannuation
• Permanent full-time, working 38 hours per week.
• 5 weeks of annual leave
