Job summary

St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney is seeking a Nutrition Assistant on a casual basis in the Nutritional Services department. The role includes assisting with patient meal selections, coordinating menus and meals, and ensuring high-quality service across shifts.

You will need a Certificate IV or III in nutrition-related health care and demonstrate flexibility to work weekends. Prior experience with the Cbord system is valued.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV or Certificate III in nutrition service support.
• Availability and flexibility for shift work, including weekends.
• Sound knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with the Cbord Food Service System is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high standard menu and meal service to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Co-ordinate all patient food and beverage requirements from patient care to Food Services.
• Encourage communication between dietitians, kitchen staff and nursing staff about patient care.
• Work collaboratively and manage workload to keep the department productive.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional support to patients by assisting patients with their meal selections according to their dietary, social and physical needs through the co-ordination of menus and meals using a computerised Bedside Menu Service
• Customer Service is delivered through a high standard of menu and meal service to ensure patient satisfaction
• Co-ordinate all patient food and beverage requirements from the patient care level to Food Services
• Encourage and promote communication between dietitians, food service staff and nursing staff on patient care levels to ensure patients’ needs are met
• Works collaboratively both within and outside the team and takes ownership of delivering accurate and timely results
• Manages own work load to deliver results which ensures department as a whole is productive and efficient

About you

• Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or Certificate III Health Service Assistant (Nutrition & Dietetics)
• Availability and flexibility
• Sound knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and customer relations skills and experience
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently
• Strong computer and administrative skills
• Previous experience as a Nutrition Assistant or Diet Aide and experience using the Cbord Food Service System is highly desirable.
• The position is based on shift work and requires you to be flexible; including being available to work weekends and extra shifts where required by the department.
• The hours of work are not specific, however a roster will be provided 2 weeks in advance.
