Gympie and District Landcare Group is seeking a Nursery Assistant to support the native plant nursery in Araluen, Gympie. The role is casual (approximately 15 hours per week, including Saturdays) with wages at Level 3 under the Nursery Award 2020.

We value reliability, nursery knowledge, and strong customer service. The position combines retail duties with hands-on nursery work, including propagation and record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Several years of general nursery experience, preferably working with native plants.
• Nursery retail experience and excellent customer service skills.
• A Certificate II or III in Horticulture, Nursery Operations or a related field is desirable.
• Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handling cash accurately.
• Good data entry skills and confidence using Excel and Word; nursery management software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service and advice on plant selection and care.
• Processing sales through the nursery's POS system, including cash handling and electronic payments.
• Undertaking propagation, watering, plant maintenance, irrigation and pest control.
• Entering and maintaining accurate nursery records.
• Working cooperatively with a diverse team of staff, volunteers and trainees.

This hands-on role combines retail customer service with practical nursery work, helping customers select plants and supporting the production and care of healthy nursery stock.

Key responsibilities include:

We are looking for someone with:
