Job summary

Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager for the Head & Neck/ Thoracic surgical ward. You will lead a 24-bed unit, partnering with inpatient services to drive patient-centered care and staff development.

Your role includes operational management, resource planning and fostering a positive nursing culture. You will bring current AHPRA registration, extensive ICU experience and a track record in clinical leadership within public or private health settings.

Qualifications

• Current (AHPRA) registration to practice nursing.
• Minimum 5 years ICU nursing with clinical management experience.
• Experience in both public and private health settings preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
• Commitment to education and professional development.
• Computer literacy with rostering and incident systems experience.
• Proven ability to foster positive workplace culture and vision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the 24-bed 8N ward.
• Provide clinical and operational leadership to the Head & Neck/Thoracic team.
• Manage resources and staffing in collaboration with inpatient services manager.
• Support ongoing staff development and safe patient care.
