Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to deliver advanced clinical assessments, diagnoses, and management across medical, surgical and inpatient units. This permanent part-time or casual role offers flexibility, leadership, and collaborative care within a private hospital setting.

You will provide autonomous, evidence-based care, engage with a multidisciplinary team, and support discharge planning and follow-up while maintaining comprehensive documentation

Qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience in advanced clinical practice within an acute hospital.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care with clinical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced, comprehensive and patient-centred care within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.
  • Undertake advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients, including changes in clinical condition.
  • Develop and evaluate individualised treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Exercise advanced clinical judgement, critical thinking and decision-making to achieve safe outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with medical practitioners, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other team members.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support and education to nursing and other staff in the area of practice.
  • Coordinate and ensure continuity of patient care, including discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.
  • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, education and evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure infection management policies are understood and adhered to in practice.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join St John of God Geelong Hospital in our Medical, Surgical and Inpatient Units. This opportunity is available on a permanent part-time or casual basis , providing flexibility to suit your professional and personal commitments.

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients across a diverse range of medical and surgical presentations. You will work collaboratively with medical practitioners, nursing teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner looking to utilise and further develop their advanced clinical practice within a supportive private hospital environment, with exposure to a broad range of specialties and patient presentations.

About the Role
  • Provides advanced, comprehensive and patient-centred clinical care within the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.

  • Undertakes advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients, including identifying and responding to changes in clinical condition.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates individualised treatment and management plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.

  • Exercises advanced clinical judgement, critical thinking and decision-making to achieve safe and positive patient outcomes.

  • Works collaboratively with medical practitioners, nursing staff, allied health professionals and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

  • Provides clinical leadership, support and education to nursing and other clinical staff within the area of practice.

  • Supports the coordination and continuity of patient care, including discharge planning and appropriate follow-up.

  • Maintains accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with legislative, professional and hospital requirements.

  • Contributes to quality improvement, clinical governance, education and evidence-based practice.

  • Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are understood, adhered to and consistently implemented in clinical practice.

  • Maintains professional accountability and practices within relevant legislation, professional standards, hospital policies and the Nurse Practitioner scope of practice.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will hold current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner and have demonstrated experience in advanced clinical practice within an acute hospital environment.

You will bring strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, decision-making and communication skills, together with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

You will demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care, with the ability to provide clinical leadership and support to colleagues.

The Benefits:
  • Salary $149,772 - $152,617 (pro rata basis for part time) plus 12% superannuation

  • Casual $94.44- $96.24 per hour commensurate with increment level inclusive of 25% casual loading + superannuation.
