Job summary

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) in Adelaide is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the See & Treat service in Paediatric Emergency Department (PED). The role focuses on prompt assessment, treatment and discharge within the nurse-led ACE model.

You will contribute expert nursing assessment, develop protocols, lead educational resources, and support multidisciplinary teams while providing leadership and guidance across the service.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (or eligible) and current practicing certificate with Nurse Practitioner notation.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience as a RN/Midwife.
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practitioner’s role.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams within a risk management framework.
  • Initiate, develop and implement educational and/or clinical protocols/standards.
  • Lead development of education resources for health professionals and patient groups.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluative research to improve nursing or midwifery practice and service delivery.
  • Provide leadership, act as a role model, mentor and resource person.

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner See & Treat, Paediatric Emergency Department (PED) works within the nurse led See and Treat Service and ACE model within the department providing prompt assessment, treatment and discharge of patients allocated to this service.

Key duties of the role
  • Contribute expert nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams to achieve integrated nursing care within a risk management framework.
  • Initiate, develop and implement educational and/or clinical protocols/standards.
  • Lead the development of education resources for health professionals and patient/client groups
  • Contribute specific expertise to monitoring and evaluative research activities in order to improve nursing or midwifery practice and service delivery
  • Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.
Skills and Experience
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate with the notation of Nurse Practitioner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and/or as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Nurse Practitioner’s role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards
