Job summary

Arcare Point Lonsdale is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager for a short-term 2-month contract (Dec 2026–Feb 2027) with a view to extension. This full-time role leads the care team and ensures delivery of high-quality, person-centred clinical care within a supportive workplace.

You will oversee care planning, medication management, staff supervision and family communication, adapting to residents’ needs while upholding accreditation standards and ANNAC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA Registration.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in aged care as a Registered Nurse.
• Knowledge of aged care accreditation standards.
• Experience with ANNAC.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in care planning and evaluation documentation.

Responsibilities

• Resident Care: Ensuring high-quality, person-centred care for residents.

About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager you will play a pivotal role within Arcare; having the responsibility for providing leadership and oversight of the care team within a specific unit.

You will deliver the highest quality of clinical care along with compassion to every Arcare Resident while maintaining a supportive & positive work environment for the care team.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Resident Care: Ensuring the delivery of high-quality and person-centered care to residents, addressing their specific medical, physical, and emotional needs
• Staff Supervision: Managing and leading a team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, caregivers and support staff
• Care Planning: Overseeing the development and implementation of individual care plans for each resident, considering their unique health requirements and preferences
• Medication Management: Ensuring proper administration and management of medications for residents, adhering to prescribed schedules and protocols
• Family Communication: Communicating effectively with residents' families or legal guardians, providing updates on their loved one's condition and involving them in care decisions when appropriate
• Crisis Management: Handling emergency situations and critical incidents promptly and effectively

What we’re looking for

• Current AHPRA Registration
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Aged Care as a Registered Nurse
• Knowledge of Aged Care accreditation standards
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with ANNAC
• Expertise in medication administration and wound care with a commitment to ongoing clinical excellence
• Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
• An outstanding proficiency in care planning, goal setting and evaluation documentation
• Capability to effectively lead and manage a team
• Short term contract starting in December 2026 till Feb 2027, with the potential of extension
