St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is seeking a Nurse Educator (Grade 2) to lead and support graduate nurses through their transition to acute care. The role focuses on delivering learner-centred education, supervising clinical practice, and promoting high standards of nursing care.
The position is a permanent full-time role in the Nursing Education and Development Centre, with a salary in the approx. $149k–$152k range plus super. Eligible for study leave and professional development opportunities.

Lead and support graduate nurses through their transition to acute care practice, providing clinical leadership, supervision, mentoring and guidance across diverse clinical settings.
Deliver learner-centred education and clinical support by assessing individual learning needs, facilitating skills development and applying contemporary adult-learning and evidence‑based teaching approaches.
Promote safe, professional and high‑quality nursing practice by role modelling professional, legal and ethical standards, supporting scope of practice, clinical accountability, patient advocacy and escalation of unsafe practice.
Support recruitment and retention of graduate nurses by contributing to a positive transition‑to‑practice experience, fostering professional confidence and belonging, and supporting graduates to develop their skills, career pathways and long‑term engagement with the organisation.
Foster critical thinking and reflective practice through coaching, clinical supervision, feedback, debriefing and opportunities for learners to develop confidence, clinical reasoning and professional competence.
Build collaborative partnerships with Nurse Managers, Nurse Educators, multidisciplinary teams and ward staff to create positive learning environments and support orientation, mandatory training and transition‑to‑practice outcomes.
Evaluate and continuously improve the RN Transition Program by monitoring learner progress, maintaining education records, contributing to quality improvement and using feedback, evidence and program evaluation to ensure education remains relevant and effective.
Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency
Relevant post‑graduate education qualifications or relevant post‑ graduate clinical qualifications with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate education programs
Demonstrated knowledge of innovative educational strategies, tools and approaches including e-learning
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team, and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly organised and efficient manner against competing priorities and deadlines
Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a nurse educator
