Job summary

Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd in Adelaide is seeking an experienced Safety Systems Manager to lead the Nuclear Safety Management System (NSMS) development and its integration with enterprise and regulatory requirements. Qualifications

Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner, developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards, supporting the Commonwealth’s Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible designing, constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure, including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard to support the AUKUS program, and operating and maintaining common use facilities.

ANI plays a pivotal role in delivering Australia’s naval shipbuilding capability, contributing to one of the nation’s most significant and complex infrastructure programs. Based in Adelaide, our work underpins the future of naval shipbuilding through world-class infrastructure at Osborne.

ANI has an opportunity for an experienced Safety Systems Manager to join its Nuclear Stewardship team in Adelaide. In this role, you will lead the development and management of ANI's Nuclear Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with enterprise and regulatory requirements. Working within a complex and highly regulated environment, you will support the delivery of the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard at Osborne.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Manage the development, implementation, management and integration of ANI’s Nuclear Safety Management System (NSMS) to ensure that ANI meets all NPS enterprise and regulatory requirements.

Develop and implement related strategies and programs that achieve:

ANI’s principal accountability for Nuclear Safety, (including interfaces with) Security, Safeguards and the Environment,

The ability to continuously monitor, optimise and improve the performance of the NSMS, including its’ ability to effectively govern and assure key safety related artefacts and decision products,

Identify NSMS interfaces and interdependencies between NPS enterprise participants, ensuring seamless integration, and,

Apply relevant good practice and learning from experience to meet or exceed regulatory compliance obligations.

Taking a highly consultative approach, provide a technical leadership role within ANI to positively facilitate organisational change.

Strictly adhere to NPS enterprise-wide requirements and performance expectations, set by a range of key stakeholders.

Participate in and represent ANI across a range of NPS enterprise fora.

About You:

You will be a collaborative leader with strong stakeholder interpersonal skills, sound judgement and a pragmatic approach. You will be comfortable working across a broad range of stakeholders and navigating complex issues while contributing to the achievement of broader business objectives.

You will also have:

Australian citizenship and able to obtain and maintain relevant security clearances necessary for the role.

Tertiary qualifications relevant to nuclear safety, radiation protection, infrastructure or other relevant high-hazard industries are highly desirable.

At least 10 years of combined experience in developing, implementing and sustaining Safety Management Systems and/or Safety Cases in complex environments or high-hazard industries.

Demonstrated experience in operating in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and highly regulated environment with a strong focus on engagement, cooperation and transparency.

Demonstrated ability to take personal responsibility and positively lead and influence the delivery of corporate and business outcomes.
