Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Principal Environmental Scientist to lead the Environmental Approvals & Advisory team in NSW. The role combines people leadership with technical and project contributions, focusing on environmental impact assessment, approvals, design and strategic advisory work.

You will build an inclusive, high-performing team, support growth and development, and work with leaders across Stantec to strengthen collaboration and pipeline opportunities.

Qualifications

• Extensive EIA and approvals experience across NSW and Commonwealth requirements.
• Proven people leadership and ability to develop a high-performing team.
• Strong networks across the NSW environmental market with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Consulting, project delivery and business development capability.
• REAP or CEnvP accreditation, or pathway toward accreditation, highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the NSW Environmental Approvals & Advisory team.
• Oversee performance, workload and resourcing across regions.
• Initiate and lead projects from inception to completion.
• Provide environmental assessment and advisory services under NSW and Commonwealth requirements.
• Strengthen client, regulator and stakeholder relationships to support growth.
• Lead and review proposals and deliverables with safe, timely and commercially successful outcomes.
