Job summary

Stantec in NSW seeks a Principal Environmental Scientist to lead the Environmental Approvals & Advisory team, guiding strategy, capability and delivery on complex projects across NSW. You will mentor staff, manage workloads, and drive growth through strong stakeholder relationships and robust technical leadership.

You will oversee diverse projects from inception to completion, ensuring outcomes meet regulatory requirements and client expectations, while fostering collaboration across Stantec's

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Planning, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or related discipline.
• Extensive EIA and approvals experience with NSW/Commonwealth requirements.
• Proven leadership and collaborative coaching ability.
• Strong NSW environmental market networks with clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Proven consulting, project delivery and business development capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the NSW Environmental Approvals & Advisory team, supporting engagement, succession planning, career development and technical capability.
• Oversee team performance, workload, utilisation and resourcing, forecasting demand and sharing work across regions.
• Initiate, plan and lead diverse projects from inception to completion.
• Provide environmental assessment, approvals and advisory services using NSW and Commonwealth requirements.
• Leverage NSW networks to strengthen client, regulator and stakeholder relationships and growth.
• Lead and review proposals, project strategies and high-quality deliverables with safe, timely, and commercially successful outcomes.
