Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Non Process Infrastructure Superintendent for the Eva Copper Mine Project in North West Queensland. The role involves on-site leadership, coordinating cross-discipline teams and subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to design drawings, specifications and schedules.

The incumbent will drive safety, quality and productivity in a high-haste environment. You'll oversee multi-discipline crews, liaise with engineering and construction managers, and contribute to estimating,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a similar role with tier 1/2 contractors.
• Comprehensive understanding of OHS legislation and safety standards.
• White Card and standard site competencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure performance and compliance with project standards.
• Monitor hazards and address risks promptly.
• Oversee subcontractors across civil, mechanical, structural and electrical disciplines.
• Coordinate with Senior Project Engineer and Construction Manager to align with drawings and schedules.
• Deliver pre-starts and toolbox talks; manage materials, plant and equipment delivery.
• Provide daily progress, non-compliance and delay reports; support tendering and contract tasks.

Job Description

• Conduct regular job site inspections to assess performance and compliance with project standards.
• Actively monitor the work environment for potential hazards and address risks in timely manner.
• Demonstrating a personal commitment to the HSE Cultural Framework, policies, Critical Risk Controls and HSE Management System requirements and expectations.
• Supervising external multi-discipline Subcontractors and Suppliers including civil, mechanical, structural, electrical disciplines.
• Supervising and developing project engineers within the team
• Liaising with the Senior Project Engineer and Construction Manager
• Coordinate with clients and/or subcontractors to ensure work is carried out in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and scheduled dates.
• Monitoring and driving works to the project schedule to ensure project milestones are achieved
• Preparing and delivering pre-starts and toolboxes
• Determining and coordinating supply and delivery of materials, plant and equipment
• Insuring works carried out are as per the contract and are to relevant Australian and industry Standards.
• Managing internal and external interfaces with contractor/client personnel.
• Perform quality management representative duties.
• Provide daily reports on progress, non-compliance, and any work delays.
• Assist with contract management tasks.
• Contribute to estimating and tendering processes.
• Implement technical and safety requirements for the project.
• Promote and actively participate in and continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.

About The Candidate

• Supervisory tickets S1,S2,S3
• G2 risk management, G3 establish & maintain risk management certificates
• Minimum, 5 years' experience in a similar role, working with a tier 1 or 2 construction company.
• Comprehensive understanding of OHS legislation and regulations, including contractual, quality requirements, safety standards, and knowledge of industry construction processes and methodologies.
• Proven experience in successfully delivering multi discipline construction projects >$10M within the resources space
• Demonstrated capabilities to effectively manage and coordinate multiple work crews, both internal and subcontractor, to achieve project aims.
• Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
• Demonstrated safety and environmental leadership behaviour and compliance
• Demonstrated success in driving team and subcontractor performance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage relationships with contractors
• Leadership, problem-solving and influencing skills
• Ability to work in a small project team
• Strong attention to detail for quality assurance
• Possession of a White Card.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

The Project is an iron-oxide copper-gold resource featuring multiple open pits and is poised to become the largest greenfield copper mine in Queensland.
