Eurofins Environmental Testing Australia is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Technician for overnight sample preparation in Murarrie, Brisbane. The role involves receiving, weighing, and preparing soil and water samples, with duties across SOP-driven analyses and quality checks.

No university degree is required, but a solid understanding of chemistry and maths (Year 12) is essential. The role suits hands-on, detail-oriented individuals based in Brisbane with eligibility to work in Australia.

Responsabilités

• Receive and sort soil and water samples and assign tests in LIMS.
• Weigh samples and transfer subsamples to relevant departments.
• Extract analytes from samples as per SOPs.
• Ensure traceability of prepared samples and vials.
• Perform quality control tests on prepared samples.
• Prioritize samples according to turnaround times.
• Handle quarantine samples per AQIS procedures.
• Calibrate POVAs and other lab equipment as directed.
• Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment.

Eurofins Environment Testing Australiais an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 300 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.

• Full time Night shift position based in Murarrie, Brisbane, QLD.
• Shift time: Monday – Friday: 8pm to 4am
• A 30% loading applies to the overnight shift
• An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of National standard rate.

Reporting to the Section Supervisor, a laboratory technician will be primarily responsible for sample preparation and involved in some analysis and other lab duties.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

• Receive and sort soil and water samples, assign tests in accordance with the LIMS database and prepare batch sheets in Microsoft Excel.
• Weigh samples and transfer subsamples to the appropriate departments in the laboratory
• Extract analytes from water/soil samples as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure traceability of samples prepared or vialled.
• Perform quality control tests.
• Prioritise samples accordingly as per turn around times (urgent samples).
• Treat quarantine samples in accordance with quarantine procedures as directed by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approved representative.
• Discard waste in accordance with safety and environmental considerations.
• Perform calibrations of POVAs such as syringes, steppers and solvent dispensers and other lab equipment.
• Keep the laboratory clean and in order.
• Undertake other duties as required by the business and directed by management.
• Act in accordance with the Eurofins Code of Ethics, and all other relevant policies and procedures, as updated from time to time.
• A person performing the duties listed in this document does not need to have a science degree but must have a good understanding of chemistry and mathematics (Year 12). A degree in a science-related field would be beneficial.
• No minimum experience is required, however, previous lab experience is a benefit.
• General preference and comfort in fast-paced environments.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality output.
• Desire to continually learn and improve.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, with an eagerness to take the next step.
• Ability to be a hands-on hard worker and a ‘doer’ with a common sense approach.
