Job summary

Drifter in Surry Hills is seeking a Night Host to ensure a seamless, safe and welcoming overnight experience for guests. You will greet late arrivals, handle requests, and maintain a tidy, secure environment in the hostel. This role suits independent hospitality pros who thrive in a calm nocturnal setting.

You’ll conduct safety checks, assist guests through the night, and share local insights about Surry Hills. This position is on-site and part of a vibrant travel community.

Qualifications

• Independent, calm under pressure and able to work solo
• Excellent communication with guests at night
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with PMS or similar systems
• Experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
• Willingness to work night shifts and adjust to nocturnal schedule

Responsibilities

The Role

When the sun sets and the neighbourhood quietens, you'll be the steady presence ensuring our guests have a seamless, safe, and comfortable night at Drifter. As a Night Host, you're not just here to oversee operations - you're the friendly face and guiding light for our night owls and early risers.

Your day-to-day (or should we say night-to-night) includes:

• Ensuring guest areas are welcoming, secure, clean and tidy.
• Greeting late arrivals with warmth and attending to overnight requests with care.
• Sharing Surry Hills hidden nocturnal gems with curious explorers.
• Conducting regular safety checks to ensure a restful night.
• Helping keep shared spaces looking great with light overnight cleaning as needed.
• Resetting and resupplying the hostel so it’s fresh and buzzing for the day ahead.

Who We Are Looking For

You're an independent worker with a knack for creating calm out of chaos. With experience in hospitality or customer service, you're no stranger to nighttime roles and thrive in a quiet yet dynamic environment.

• You're a natural communicator and can make guests feel at ease no matter the hour.
• Tech-savvy and familiar with property management systems.
• Flexibility is your superpower. You adapt to the unique challenges that come with working nights.
