Job summary

Macquarie University in Sydney invites applications for a Data Scientist within the Neurosciences program of the FMHHS. The role encompasses end-to-end research data handling, analysis, visualization, and pipeline development across genomics, imaging, and clinical data.

Reporting to Prof. Glenda Halliday, you will build tools, configure computing environments, and collaborate with researchers to advance brain health.

Qualifications

• Master's level qualification with experience in data science supporting research programs.
• Secure data handling protocols and privacy considerations for datasets.
• Skills in image analysis and bioinformatics with Python, R, and Jupyter Notebook.
• Experience with version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab) and workflow languages (Nextflow, CWL).

Responsibilities

• Collect/organise source research data into structured repositories.
• Analyze data using existing tools and develop new analytic pipelines.
• Visualise data with specialised bioinformatics tools and share results.
• Set up data processing platforms and containerised workflows.
• Train and advise researchers to access tools and build capability.
• Contribute to publications and upload data/code to repositories.
