Job summary

Kaliba is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer (Level 3) for a Melbourne-based managed services role. You will act as the top technical escalation point for the Network, Security & Cyber team and lead major incidents with RCA deliverables.

You will mentor L2 engineers, contribute to runbooks and automation, and design across Fortinet and Palo Alto environments, including SD-WAN, with availability for after-hours and customer site visits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in network and security engineering.
• 2+ years at L3 or senior escalation level within MSP/MSSP.
• Fortinet NSE certification (NSE 4 minimum; NSE 5/6/7 highly regarded).
• Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama expertise (PCNSA/PCNSE highly regarded).
• Enterprise routing and switching experience (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
• Experience resolving complex multi-vendor faults with RCAs.

Responsibilities

• Act as the escalation point for L1/L2 engineers across incidents, service requests and changes.
• Lead the technical response on P1/P2 major incidents and own root cause analysis and customer-facing write-up.
• Resolve complex, cross-domain and multi-vendor faults end to end.
• Design, configure and troubleshoot firewall and routing policies across Palo Alto and Fortinet environments, including SD-WAN.
• Plan and deliver changes with rollback plans, including after-hours windows, upgrades and migrations.
• Pass chronic, recurring faults to the technical lead for formal problem management.
• Mentor L2 engineers and contribute runbooks, knowledge articles and automation.

Our client, a Melbourne-based managed services provider, is hiring a Level 3 Network & Security Engineer to be the top technical escalation point for its Network, Security & Cyber team. You'll take the toughest tickets, lead major incident response and coach the engineers coming up behind you.

What you'll do

What you'll bring

• Deep, hands-on Fortinet experience: FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. NSE 4 minimum; NSE 5/6/7 highly regarded
• Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama: security policy, App-ID/User-ID, NAT, VPN, threat prevention. PCNSA/PCNSE highly regarded
• Enterprise routing and switching: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, HA/clustering, QoS, IPSec and remote-access VPN
• A track record of independently resolving complex multi-vendor faults, with RCAs that hold up under customer scrutiny
• ITIL-aligned discipline across tickets, change and problem management, with comfort working to measured SLA and quality targets
• Australian work rights, and availability for on-call, after-hours work and customer site visits
