Job summary

Aerometrex Limited is seeking a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to own and secure our Adelaide and Sunshine Coast networks, including on-prem and AWS environments. You will lead incident response, drive security enhancements and coordinate with software teams to safeguard MetroMap infrastructure.

You will bring 6+ years in network/infrastructure/security roles, strong multi-vendor networking skills, and hands‑on security expertise with Microsoft and AWS ecosystems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in network, infrastructure or security roles.
• Strong networking across multiple vendors: VLANs, static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), spanning tree, firewalls, IPsec VPNs and SD‑WAN or multi‑WAN failover.
• Hands‑on security: segmentation, MFA, endpoint protection, log analysis and incident response.
• The Microsoft stack: Defender, Intune, Purview, Entra ID and Active Directory.
• AWS networking and security: VPC, security groups, IAM and hybrid connectivity.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve our networks across both sites: switching, routing, firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, redundant internet links and connectivity to our storage environment
• Move routing from static to dynamic to better support our hybrid cloud environment
• Test failover and redundancy regularly, and lead network recovery after outages, including power sequencing
• Strengthen security through segmentation, least-privilege access, MFA and Microsoft tooling (Defender, Intune, Purview)
• Review logs and traffic across on-premises and AWS, and lead hands‑on incident response
• Work with our software team to secure AWS, including VPC networking, IAM and hybrid connectivity
• Lead our cyber security roadmap and policies, aligned with the Essential Eight, and control third‑party and vendor access
• Deliver upgrades and patching in maintenance windows, and keep documentation current
• Support and upskill the IT team, and give senior leaders clear, cost-conscious advice

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to take technical ownership of the networks and security that keep our business running across our Adelaide and Sunshine Coast sites. This role suits someone who enjoys keeping a multi-vendor environment healthy, resilient and secure, and who takes pride in doing things properly.

You’ll be the senior escalation point for our IT support team and partner with our software team to secure the AWS environment behind MetroMap.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You’re a pragmatic, vendor‑agnostic engineer with deep fundamentals. You document, test before you deploy, follow best practice and can explain your recommendations to non‑technical stakeholders. You want a role you can make your own for the long term.

You’ll bring:

• 6+ years in network, infrastructure or security roles, including designing and delivering improvements
• Strong networking across multiple vendors: VLANs, static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF), spanning tree, firewalls, IPsec VPNs and SD‑WAN or multi‑WAN failover
• Hands‑on security: segmentation, MFA, endpoint protection, log analysis and incident response

Nice to have

• CCNP, AWS Advanced Networking or Security, SC‑200, AZ‑500, CISSP or CISM
• Dell or FS switching, Sophos firewalls, 3CX or VoIP
• Storage networking, backup, and power or UPS management
• Geospatial, aerial imagery or LiDAR experience

You’ll need to travel to our Sunshine Coast site and occasionally work outside business hours.
