Job summary

HiTech Personnel is sourcing a skilled Network Engineer for a Federal Government department in Canberra. The role is an initial 12-month contract with a view to extension, offered at rewarding hourly rates in a hybrid environment.

The Network Engineer will maintain multi-vendor infrastructure, secure networks and support virtualised networking environments, ensuring reliable service delivery and alignment with business needs.

Qualifications

• Experience across multi-vendor networks and security controls.
• Ability to manage vendor equipment and implement monitoring solutions.
• Understanding of government security standards is desirable.

A high profileFederal Governmentdepartmentis looking to engage a skilledNetwork Engineer to provide expert technical support and management of the departments network infrastructure and vendor network equipment, ensuring reliable service delivery, alignment with current and future business requirements and the ongoing currency and maintainability of the network environment. The successfulNetwork Engineer will secure aninitial 12 month contractwith the view to be extended for two years and receivea rewarding hourly rate.

The successfulNetwork Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Supporting and maintaining network equipment from vendors including HPE, CISCO, FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink.

Managing and supporting Network Security technologies and services.

Supporting Virtualised networking products and environments.

Administering and troubleshooting LAN, MAN and WAN environments.

The successfulNetwork Engineer will have experience in the following:

Contemporary broad network domain knowledge and technical skills including experience working in a multi-vendor environment including but not limited to HPE, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Peplink.

Experience administering secure networks compliant with the Australian Government Information Security Manual.

Experience using automation tools for the management of network and server infrastructure.

Experience implementing network management and monitoring solutions ie. DCIM, SNMP, SYSLOG, Authentication, NTP.
