Job summary

Talent Corp is seeking a Senior Network Specialist to join a Canberra-based Federal Government environment. This hands-on role requires Cisco expertise and multi-vendor experience across HPE, Fortinet/FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink.

You will maintain and troubleshoot complex LAN/MAN/WAN networks, implement security controls, and work with stakeholders to translate requirements into practical network solutions while ensuring ISM compliance.

Qualifications

• Senior, hands-on network professional with enterprise WAN/LAN experience.
• Experience administering secure networks aligned with ISM or similar standards.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across Cisco, HPE, FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink environments.
• Administer and troubleshoot complex LAN, MAN and WAN environments.
• Support Cisco technologies including BGP, MPLS, IPsec, QoS and enterprise routing and switching.
• Manage and support network security technologies and services.
• Support virtualised networking environments.
• Manage carrier circuits and troubleshoot physical connectivity issues.
• Implement and administer network management and monitoring solutions including SNMP, Syslog, TACACS and NTP.
• Use automation tools to support the management of network and server infrastructure.
• Work with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical network capabilities.
• Support secure network environments aligned with the Australian Government ISM.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Specialist to join a high-profile Federal Government environment in Canberra.

This is a hands-on senior technical role supporting and maintaining a complex, secure, multi-vendor network environment. The successful candidate will bring strong Cisco enterprise networking expertise, complemented by experience across technologies such as HPE, Fortinet/FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You will be a senior, hands-on network professional with strong experience operating complex enterprise networks.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Strong Cisco networking experience across enterprise WAN and LAN environments.
• Hands-on experience with BGP, MPLS, IPsec and QoS.
• Experience working within multi-vendor network environments, including HPE, Cisco, Fortinet/FortiGate and/or Palo Alto.
• Experience administering secure networks compliant with the Australian Government ISM.
• Strong network monitoring and management experience across technologies such as SNMP, Syslog, TACACS, NTP and DCIM.
• Experience using automation tools for network or infrastructure management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.

Highly regarded experience includes:

• Palo Alto Networks NGFW, including Panorama, GlobalProtect, User-ID, App-ID and Content-ID.
• Linux server administration, including DNS, proxies, web servers, host-based firewalls and security tooling.
• Previous experience within complex Australian Government ICT environments.
