Job summary

Downer is seeking a Network Engineer in Canberra to work on secure Defence communications and network engineering projects. You will contribute to designing, integrating and sustaining critical networks within Defence environments and collaborate across multiple teams to deliver secure, reliable communications.

Ideal candidates have tertiary qualifications in relevant fields, a Chartered status or ability to attain it, and experience in Defence or secure environments, with strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status (or the ability to attain chartership) with a recognised professional body.
• Demonstrated experience in Defence or secure communications and network engineering environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
• Experience working with Defence engineering frameworks, including the ASDEFCON Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform network engineering across voice, video and data systems.
• Support design/integration/assurance of secure Defence LAN/WAN networks.
• Analyze network requirements; ensure traceability to system needs.
• Review and develop network documentation to standards.
• Provide specialist input to stakeholders and contractor deliverables.

We currently have an opportunity for a Network Engineer JP9101 in Canberra, ACT to work on secure Defence communications and network engineering projects.

What You'll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Perform network engineering activities across voice, video and data systems, including converged communications environments
• Support the design, integration and assurance of secure Defence LAN, WAN and communications network architectures
• Conduct network and communications requirements analysis and ensure traceability to system-level capability needs
• Review and develop network engineering documentation and artefacts in accordance with Defence and IC3SPO standards
• Provide specialist technical input to stakeholders and contractor deliverables across the project lifecycle

What You'll Bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related discipline
• Chartered Professional Engineer status (or the ability to attain chartership) with a recognised professional body
• Demonstrated experience in Defence or secure communications and network engineering environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
• Experience working with Defence engineering frameworks, including the ASDEFCON Suite

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
