Job summary

Ability Action Australia is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our North Lakes team in early 2027. You will support NDIS participants in the North Brisbane region, conducting assessments, developing Behaviour Support Plans, and working with families and carers to implement strategies in home and community settings.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualifications relevant to supporting people with disabilities.
• Experience with the NDIS and challenging behaviours.
• Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs.
• Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions.
• Strong report writing and ability to translate assessments into actionable plans.
• Excellent time management and ability to balance a dynamic caseload.

Responsibilities

• Assist NDIS participants and families to manage challenging behaviours and develop new skills.
• Complete thorough assessments to identify triggers, risks and strategies.
• Develop Behaviour Support Plans and support families for implementation.
• Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring and adjustments.
• Develop goals and strategies using a positive behaviour support framework with a focus on reducing restrictive practices.
• Ensure plans reflect participants' goals and strengths and promote engagement in life.
• Build capacity of carers and supporters to sustain outcome improvements.
• Act as a role model for best practice and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
