Job summary

Ability Action Australia is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner for our North Lakes office. You will join a multidisciplinary team to support NDIS participants in the North Brisbane region, starting February 2027, with a mix of home and clinic/community work.

You will assess, plan and implement behaviour support strategies, develop plans with families, and monitor progress while maintaining a dynamic caseload and a commitment to reducing restrictive practices.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience within the NDIS framework and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours.
• Degree qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, OT, Disability Studies or ABA.
• Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours.
• Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions.
• Strong report writing and ability to translate assessments into actionable plans.
• Excellent time management and ability to balance a dynamic caseload.

Responsibilities

• Assist NDIS participants and families to manage challenging behaviours to improve quality of life.
• Complete thorough assessments to understand behaviour triggers, identify risks and strategies.
• Develop Behaviour Support Plans and support families for implementation.
• Maintain a caseload with ongoing monitoring and adjustments.
• Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies using a positive behaviour support framework.
• Ensure plans reflect participants' goals, passions and strengths.
• Build knowledge, capacity of those who support participants in their lives.
• Act as an advocate and role model for best practice.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for aBehaviour Support Practitionerto join our multi-disciplinary team in the North Lakes office in Feb 2027.

Successful candidates will be providing supports to NDIS participants living in the NorthBrisbaneRegion.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

• Extensive experience working within the NDIS framework and supporting individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours
• Degree levelqualifications of relevance to providing supportto people with behaviours of concern eg. Psychology, Social Work, Occupational therapy, Disability Studies and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
• Passion for supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours
• Commitment to person-centred practice and reducing restrictive interventions
• Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate assessment findings into clear, actionable plans
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to balance a dynamic caseload
